“Growing together – Smart investment for people”
The OPEN DAYS – European Week of Regions and Cities is the key annual event for regional and local authorities.
The event brings together political representatives, decision-makers, experts and practitioners of regional policy, as well as stakeholders from business, civil society organisations, academia, EU institutions and the media, to discuss common challenges for European regions and cities and discuss possible solutions. Provides a platform for capacity-building and the exchange of experience and good practice for those involved in implementing EU cohesion policy and in managing its financial instruments and finally facilitates cooperation and networking among regions and cities
In 2014, the OPEN DAYS will consist of, almost, 100 workshops, debates, and networking activities to be attended by some 6.000 participants. In addition to the Brussels-based workshops during the European Week of Regions and Cities, OPEN DAYS will also involve local events, which will take place between September and November all over Europe.

- Building capacity: new features and instruments in programme management (financial engineering, performance framework evaluation, partnership arrangements)
- Territorial cooperation: the new generation of pan-European programmes (INTERREG, URBACT, ESPON, INTERACT), international cooperation.
The OPEN DAYS are geared towards an audience specifically interested in regional policy and addressed to European, national, regional and local government politicians, officials and experts, Also they are addressed to representatives of private companies, financial institutions and European and national associations, journalists, master or PhD students, researchers and practitioners in the field of European, regional and urban policy.
